"As A Bird"
Daniel Valles
READ
Psalms 124:7-8
Psalms 124:7-8 says, "Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare
of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped. Our help is in
the name of the Lord, who made heaven, and earth." Have you ever seen
pictures on TV or somewhere where they let birds out of their cage?
Looking at the bird in the cage, you can tell that that's not where it is
supposed to be... Birds are naturally free. Same for humans. Before sin
came into the world, mankind was free. Then, sin came and bound us. Sin
left an empty feeling.. a feeling for something better. When we were
sinners, you could tell that there was something missing... something was
not right. Then Jesus came, and died for our sins. He offered us the
chance for freedom. And many Christians today can tell you that being a
Christian fills that void, and restores what mankind was when God made
them. And, like the verse says, "our soul is escaped as a bird out of
the snare of the fowlers..." Satan was the fowler. He held us captive
in our sins. But, you see, there's something about captivity. Sometimes,
some people don't want to leave. They like the sin of this world. Jesus
has unlocked and opened the door to our cage. Beckoning to us, He wants
us to be free. But He gives us the choice. All we have to do is fly away
as it were from sin, and come to Jesus. We need to forsake our old
captivity... but, we also need to stay away from the place of sin. Sin
holds us down, and we can't enjoy the spiritual freedom as much as we
want to... Come to Jesus today.
"But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they
shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary;
and they shall walk, and not faint." -Proverbs 40:31
