"Boasting and Works"
Daniel Valles
READ
Ephesians 2:8-9
Ephesians 2:8-9 says, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and
that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God; Not of works, lest any man
should boast." Oftentimes when you are out witnessing, you can come
across people who believe that their good works will get them to Heaven.
Let me ask you something. Would you rather go to a place where thousands
of people will be telling you for endless years how good they were, and
how they were better than so-and-so, or would you rather go to someplace
where there is only one person that . people could look to as their
Savior. Really, who wants to spend eternity listening to someone else
brag? It would be more than aggravating... I'm sure you know someone that
likes to brag, and you can testify that to spend eternity with them
bragging would be more than annoying.... it would be like a second Hell.
There is no way that our works can get us to Heaven. We didn't have to do
anything. Just like our soldiers that gave their lives during the
Revolutionary War, they gave their lives to give us freedom. We don't
have to go out and buy it (although with income taxes today, one would
think so), we don't have to fight off the enemy ourselves to get it, it's
already ours because of what they did! It's
similar to Christianity. Just ask Jesus into your hearts and to forgive
you of all your sins! The most it would make you do is breathe three
times! Works may seem like a idea that might sound right, but it's not!
Salvation is not an earned prize, it's a gift, taken without obligation
on your part. |
