"Where is Truth? Part 1"
When a nation slides toward outward and blatant rebellion
against God, there becomes a noticeable lack of truth. In the chapter,
Israel is described as a transgressing nation. It lists the various
failings and sins of the people and nation. Unfortunately, these
descriptions can also aptly describe our country as well. However, there
are at least nine references to the fact that while all of the sin was
increasing, judgment, discernment, and availability of truth became
scarce. Not only was it becoming hard to find people that exercised
discernment, but, when confronted with truth for making proper judgment
and discernment, the people did not care (vs. 14). Some truth was going
out, but it was "fallen in the street." When a nation becomes saturated
and comfortable with their sin, they do not want to have someone shine a
light onto what they are doing. Not only did they not want to listen, God
said that no one "pleadeth for truth." How many people in the world today
desire the sincere truth? Some say they do, some Christians say they seek
to do right, but when confronted by Biblical truth regarding discernment
and proper judgment, do they still obey? What about me? Do I readily
accept and seek out the truth from the Bible? |
