"Who Am I? Part 2" WHO AM I, WITH RESPECT TO MY POSITION AND FUNCTION IN LIFE? I am a Christian, a child of light. I Thessalonians 5:5 states, "Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness". Ephesians 5:8 says, "For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light." Matthew 5:14 reminds me, "Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid." I am a watchman, with the duty to warn the saved and unsaved about God and His commands. Ezekiel 3:17-21 states:
I am a son and child of God. Galatians 4:6-7 says, "And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ." I John 5:1 says, "Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him." As a child of the Highest, I am commanded "But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil." As salt, it is my job to hold back corruption, preserve that which is good, and make the world thirst for God. Matthew 5:13 says, "Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men." I am His steward. Luke 16:2 is a reminder that I should constantly be aware of: "How is it that I hear this of thee? give an account of thy stewardship; for thou mayest be no longer steward." I am also His servant. Daniel 6:20 says, "O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions?" Matthew 24:46 again reminds me, "Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing." Psalm 31:16 cries, "Make thy face to shine upon thy servant: save me for thy mercies’ sake." I can rejoice in crying aloud, "O LORD, truly I am thy servant; I am thy servant, and the son of thine handmaid: thou hast loosed my bonds." - Psalm 116:16. I can beseech my Master, "I am thy servant; give me understanding, that I may know thy testimonies." - Psalm 119:125. |
