"Meditate"
Daniel Valles

READ Genesis 24:63

Many times we as Christians tend to think of Bible characters who meditate as David, Solomon, the prophets, etc.  However, we find here that even Isaac meditated.  Contrary to an Eastern religions' concept of meditation, Christians contemplate Christ and muse over what He has revealed to us, whether in Word, thought, or nature.  It is remarkable that Isaac here meditated, because he had no written Word that we are aware of!  Everything he knew about God (in an intellectual sense) was passed down by oral tradition.  Considering the fact that Shem was still alive, Isaac or Abraham could have heard the Flood account straight from the one who was in it!  We see in Matthew 24, that Laban's family worshipped God as well, and was very familiar with Him.

Do we set aside time to meditate on what God has done in our lives?  Image what he could have meditated on.  Even without the Bible, Isaac would clearly know that God loves His creation, is merciful, longsuffering, compassionate, intelligent, powerful, and that He was one day going to provide a way of salvation.

Set some time aside when you can meditate.  Not an emptying of the mind, but a musing over what you have learned about God and who He is.  Perhaps, you may need to get away into the field, a quiet place, to meditate.  Make it a constant habit.  Commune with Him.
