"Reminders"
Daniel Valles

READ Psalm 39:4

How many times do we get so busy running around in our own private little worlds, staying busy with an hundred and one projects that we forget what we are.  Sure, we constantly a reminded that we are sinner and need His strength and grace; but, do we remember, as David said, "how frail I am?"  Most of us are guilty of living as though we will never die in this world.  Obviously we know we will, but do we live like it?

David starts out the chapter in a time of meditation and pondering.  He has been musing over the thought that he has to take heed to his ways, and that it takes concerted effort not to sin.  While pondering over this, his conscience was stirred up that too often he forgot what type of person he was.  Do we live life with a certain armor or bravado that we can handle any moral situation that comes our way?  Do we puff up ourselves thinking that we are spiritual strong in and of ourselves?  In ourselves, we are nothing!  We are extremely frail!  When we forget that our strength comes from God, then we have a proper view of ourselves: dependent.

When was the last time I sat around a figurative fireside and just contemplated what kind of person I am, and how that affects my view toward sin?  Do you forget that you are weak?  Then you will fall.  When you hold onto His hand, your steps are sure.
