"Deliverance" Daniel Valles
How many times does it seem that we forget that the Lord Almighty can deliver us in this life as much as He has with our soul one day in Heaven. In the verse David praises the Lord not only for delivering his soul, but helping through the hard times. He delivered and kept David from being overcome with his tears, and from falling under the weight of his trouble and sorrows. In Psalm 56:13, we again see David praising the Lord. "For thou hast delivered my sould from death: wilt not thou deliver my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living?" The last statements is not so much a question, but a statement. He has just finished outlining all that the Lord has done for him, and states that the obvious conclusion to the help he has received for his soul is only indicative of the help that he receives in other areas of life. Our Christ is a God of Love. That love and compassion is not confined and applicable only to our eternal destiny. The God who is so concerned about the trivialities of our life is even concerned when sparrows fall. Such attention to every minute detail of the world's events and of its inhabitants is not lost on God. God wants to save our soul so we can one day fellowship with Him in Heaven; but ,as David said, He wants our fellowship and devotion here on earth as well (vs. 13b). When our heart and soul get compassed about with sorrows and afflictions, and our feet get weary in pressing on, we need to look to God for deliverance. As Psalms 56:11 says, "In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me." Where is your trust - in man's logic to handle worldly situations, or in a God who is not only concerned for your soul, but also for your deliverance. |
