"Who and What"
Daniel Valles

READ Gal. 5:7-12

Verse seven starts out with a very interesting qualifier.  When the church is asked why they did not obey the truth that was originally given to them, the questions was not what did hinder you, the question was "who did hinder you."  The next verses then go on to talk about how little errors called leaven can creep into a lump and alter the whole lump.  Many times errors and wrong ideas of doctrine or methods originate from people.  In our culture and times, many of the ideas can come from books espoused by people.  Whether the leaven be purpose-driven or contemporary, usually, churches and church leaders get the ideas from someone or a book.

Verse eight clarifies that what we should be following is what we received from "him that called you."  What we read in the Bible and God's Word should be the sole basis for how we act in our testimony and walk with Him.  In verse seven, the Apostle even states that whoever they were listening to prevented them from following "the truth."

Are you basing your ministry off of a book or what so-and-so did it?  Forget them - they are hindering you.  Some may be good ideas, most are not.  Model your life and church not on what others say, but what the Bible says.
