"Silence"
This is my favorite and personal verse. There are many times, while reading through the news and events, trends in the church, etc., that I can get down and depressed. Other times I can get outraged, indignant, or just plain frustrated. Usually, like the Psalmist, I have to get a grip on the Lord. I Sam. 30:6 says, "And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God." 1 Corinthians 15:19 "If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable." "The Lord the God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee." Isa. 41:13 Many times I can forget that it is not my power that gets things done, it is God telling me to put my right hand (my strength) in His (left) hand, and allowing His might to work (His right hand).
"Unless the Lord had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in
silence." Psalm 94:17 |
