"Duty of Man"
It never ceases to amaze me that people are shocked in a bad sense that certain Christians are not 'lukewarm', but 'hot' for Christ. Sometimes when someone asks one of these Christians how much time they are spending in their ministry, the response to their answer is almost a tsk tsk. Is the Christian life only a nine-to-five job? If you work in a Christian ministry, do you cease from Christian ministry when you clock out from work? Does our service as a Christian only come into effect at church? If someone is spending what we would consider inordinate amounts of time serving Christ, more power to him! The whole duty of man is to fear God and to keep His commandments (vs. 13). As Christians, we have a lot of work to do! Psalm 123:4 says, "Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scorning of those that are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud." Christians that don't do anything for Christ are often the greatest deriders of those that strive for Christ! Some of the works that Solomon ministered in was the dissemination of proper truth for his people. Discernment in the truth and wisdom took a lot of time, but they are the goads and nails that helped push his people in the way that they needed to go. Christians, today, have the same responsibilities. Spread the Gospel, correct wrong doctrine, set forth as an example that which is upright, and to steer others toward the Truth.
