"Wheat and Chaff"
Daniel Valles

READ Jeremiah 23:16-37

Jeremiah 23:22 says, "But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings."

Vs. 28-29 says, "The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that hath my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the chaff to the wheat? saith the LORD."

vs. 36-37 says, "...ye have perverted the words of the living God, of the LORD of hosts our God. Thus shalt thou say to the prophet, What hath the LORD answered thee? and, What hath the LORD spoken."

There are in 'Christian' circles today, leaders, who do not tell God's Word like He has given it. In the passages, God laments that He wanted these certain prophets to stand "in my counsel", and to proclaim "my words". The result would have been that the people would have repented if the prophets had just preached God's Word!

When a blind leader attempts to mix in his own philosophy of life, psychology, new age, relativism, etc., then the LORD says that he has perverted His words! God admonishes us to separate the chaff from the wheat! In the Gospels, Christ tells the disciples to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees. (Matthew 16:6,11,12; Mark 8:15; Luke 12:1)

Luke 9:49-50 says, "And John answered and said, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name; and we forbad him, because he followeth not with us. And Jesus said unto him, Forbid him not: for he that is not against us is for us." Sometimes you may not always agree with someone in another ministry as to their methods or means of ministry. Christ told His disciples that if they were not against Him, they should not forbid them. When someone teaches a 'doctrine' or advice pertaining to what a Christian should do, and yet perverts God's Word, we are to beware of them.

The reminder that God gave us should constantly be on our hearts and minds - "What hath the LORD answered thee? and, What hath the LORD spoken"
