"Stand fast"
Daniel Valles

Read Ecclesiastes 12:9-11

Ecclesiastes 12:9-11 says,
"And moreover, because the preacher was wise, he still taught the people knowledge; yea, he gave good heed, and sought out, and set in order many proverbs.  "The preacher sought to find out acceptable words: and that which was written was upright, even words of truth.  "The words of the wise are as goads, and as nails fastened by the masters of assemblies, which are given from one shepherd."

I love the verse in 7:12 that says, "For wisdom is a defence, and money is a defence: but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it."  Our day is a time that is starving for truth (II Tim. 4:3)  As Christians, we have the duty of making sure that the light is being presented unaltered.  People look to facts, knowledge, proverbs, doctrine, etc. in their daily lives in making decisions.

Titus 1:9 reminds us, "Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers."  Some people, and even Christian 'leaders' tell people that doctrines are not that important, and that it does not matter what 'version' we use.  God tells us to hold fast and to stand fast (2 Thessalonians 2:15) by what He has given us.  Granted, holding to what God says do not win a lot of popularity contests, but He commands it.

Like the verses said, 1 Corinthians 16:13 says, "Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong."  Eccl. 12:13 "Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man."

We have our orders, and they stand - we must stay the course for our King.
