"Stand fast" Daniel Valles
Ecclesiastes 12:9-11 says, I love the verse in 7:12 that says, "For wisdom is a defence, and money is a defence: but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it." Our day is a time that is starving for truth (II Tim. 4:3) As Christians, we have the duty of making sure that the light is being presented unaltered. People look to facts, knowledge, proverbs, doctrine, etc. in their daily lives in making decisions. Titus 1:9 reminds us, "Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers." Some people, and even Christian 'leaders' tell people that doctrines are not that important, and that it does not matter what 'version' we use. God tells us to hold fast and to stand fast (2 Thessalonians 2:15) by what He has given us. Granted, holding to what God says do not win a lot of popularity contests, but He commands it. Like the verses said, 1 Corinthians 16:13 says, "Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong." Eccl. 12:13 "Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man." We have our orders, and they stand - we must stay the course for our King. |
