THIS WEEK'S VERSE
----------------------------------------------------------
I have posted a new article, "Who Am I?", which deals with our status as a Christian. It is almost a pre-article to the upcoming "When Freedom Fails" article that I have been working on. I found another book related to the topic that I want to skim through, but I am still working on-and-off on the article. Continue to pray about it.

I suggest you read the article. If you do not view yourself or live with the mindset of one who is Christ-like, then you may find it difficult in the days ahead to live for Christ, as you are not dead to self. The article has also been broken up into seven different devotionals for the week ahead, making reading easier.

MISCELLANEOUS THOUGHTS I'VE FOUND
---------------------------------------------------------

"Remember you are a much better witness for the Messiah if you are healthy and have food and water. It is hard to witness to someone if you are digging in the same garbage can for something to eat." - Jerry Golden, thegoldenreport.com

This RECAP is shorter than normal because this has been a busy and tiring week at work.  Please pray for me that I will have energy and alertness needed after work.

CURRENT EVENT RECAP
------------------------------------------------------
It has been very interesting to follow the aftermath of hurricane Charley.  We try to stress the Prudent Living section for a reason.  There are many events in life that can greatly disrupt your services and daily living.  Many individuals in hard-hit areas are having to wait in long lines for ice, water, and food.  I have read several news stories where people are starting to get stressed out because of the complete change and lack of the basic necessities.  Too many people expect that the .gov will be able to meet all of their needs if things go wrong.  Already in Florida, they have only been able to provide half of the ice necessary, and even that is rationed.  Power and water is still out in many areas.  Travel has greatly been hindered, and even ready access to medical facilities is still improving.  They are doing a good job considering the circumstances, but what would the outcome have been if every household had at least 30 gallons of water stored before the storm hit?  What if they had at least a week's worth of canned good that would not spoil when the power went out?  What if they all had an average first-aid kit for minor cuts?  What if even half of the people affected were prepared to take care of themselves (to a large part) instead of the government?  If that had been the case, the National Guard (it was amazing there was still 4,000 in our state instead of Iraq) would not have to be handing out food, water, etc. but could be helping with clean up, security, logistics, etc.  When they have to do double-duty, relief takes twice as long and twice as much manpower.  Where I live, I was in the direct path of where Bonnie would have hit had it turned into a hurricane.  Sure, there is more that anyone can do, but I have been trying to living prudently foreseeing the evil that could happen.

Speaking of our armed forces, Bush is now planning a major shift in forces from Europe and Asia.  All it all, the withdrawal will affect 170,000 soldiers, support staff, and family members.  As we get closer and closer to the last days, we will continue to see an increase in world involvement in the middle east.  More and more of our resources and soldiers will be sent to intervene in M.E. affairs.  Even more National Guard (3,000 from Texas) were reporting for duty in Iraq this week.  I read an interesting article this week that stated that the majority of men in our armed forces are extremely patriotic, and would resist even martial law, attempts at overt tyranny, etc.  The article then posed an interesting question: Why are we then trying to get as many of them overseas as we can?  ...and the ones that do come back have Depleted Uranium poisoning.

Russia conducted some more missiles tests this week of the SS-19.  Russia already claims to be possess the technology to beat any missile defenses that we may eventually put up.

As Taiwan and China continue in their tit-for-tat, the world will witness some type of incident before too long.  I have constantly been warning about the danger to our carriers if we were ever involved in a Taiwan incident, and just this week it was announced that China is specifically working on tactics relating to neutralizing carrier strike groups.  They have already conducted "seven major exercises simulating the sinking of an aircraft carrier."  Just this week, the US also announced that they may send another carrier to the Asia-Pacific region, especially given that we only have one in the area (Kitty Hawk).  Computer simulations this week showed that Taiwan could probably hold off an invasion for at least two days.  Two days is not a long time for allies to decide and move.

The reversal of the gay-marriage licenses is San Francisco should not be counted as a victory yet.  The timing was at a point when the subject was slipping a bit toward the back-burner.  Now, all of a sudden, the media and focus is on these 'couples' who have had their 'marriage rights' taken away.  It stirs up the topic again, but this time mixing in a bit of sympathy toward their cause, etc.  Australia is also seeing increased demand for sodomite marriage.  It may be pathetic irony, but this week there was an article about a new museum opening near the Dead Sea, 300 meters away from the cave where Lot and daughters hid from the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah.

Last week we looked a little closer at the abortion plight, and this week we see that Brazil may be taking steps to legalize abortion.  In the UK, the RU486 abortion pill is being pushed for home abortions.  The rate of killing will probably increase if that is followed through with, as many women will be able to kill 'from the privacy of their own home.'
