THIS WEEK'S VERSE
----------------------------------------------------------
READ Psalms 84:10

One day to a thousand.  That is quite a ratio.  David stated that one day fellowshipping and being right with God in His house was better than a thousand days apart from God.  Do we desire God's companionship and relationship so much that it pains us greatly when our fellowship is hindered by our sin?  Is our life so fervent for God that we clearly know when we are not "in the house of my God"?  Unfortunately, many Christian are content just their "fire insurance."  They are not going to Hell, but that is all they are worried about.    As a Christian, we should notice if things are not right between us and the Savior.  Do I live my life is such a careless and worldly manner that I would not even notice if the Spirit left?  The Spirit indwells us if we are saved, but we can harden our hard to such an extent that we muffle and silence it.  Examine yourself.  When was the last time that you knew you were in right fellowship and communion with God?  Was it this morning while you read your Bible?  Two days ago?  A month?  As humans, we can get fretful and anxious if our regular friends all of a sudden stopped coming by.  Is our fellowship with Christ so intimate that we miss and yearn for the fellowship to be restored?

In Psalms 119:59, David says, "I thought on my ways, and turned my feet unto thy testimonies."  When fellowship is broken, it is not that God moved away from us - we moved away from God.  Our eyes or minds turned to the world instead of God.  David acknowledges that when he realized he was not right with God, that the sweet fellowship was gone, that he, David, had to turn back to God.

How is my walk with God?  Have I thought on my ways?  Where am I in my fellowship with God? Do I miss Him?  Is He just an acquaintance now?

Proverbs 18:24 "A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother."  Don't push him away.

1 day versus 1,000 days - How much is fellowship with Him worth to you?

MISCELLANEOUS THOUGHTS I'VE FOUND
---------------------------------------------------------

If you have not heard of lasttrumpetministries.org, then I strongly encourage you to check out Pastor David Meyer's newsletters.  They contain a wealth of information regarding the state of the world and especially the church.  One of the best documented Christian newsletters I have ever seen.  You may not agree with 100% of what he says, but research what he states.  He is extremely knowledgeable about the occult and the New Age movement, and how the Devil has sown these seeds in the church.  His latest August 2004 newsletter is extremely poignant.

ADDED RESOURCES
--------------------------------------------------------------
I have posted the "Election Guide" - nonpartisan Biblical guidelines that apply to any party and candidate.  There is no lesser of two evils with these guidelines that God lays out.  If your candidate has the characteristics and actions listed in the verses, we cannot lend him our support, vote, or acknowledgment.  I would really like to hear your thoughts on this article!

I have added several articles to the Prudent Living section these past two weeks.  I have been researching and concentrating on PL this week, so I have not added resources in other areas.

* "Master Checklist" by Daniel Valles.  - The absolute basic that every household should have on hand for any type of disaster.  Your feedback and tips is greatly desired!
* "100 Items to disappear" - What becomes most valuable in an extended time of crisis.
* "Hard Thoughts and Notes: If things get bad..." by Daniel Valles.
* "Thoughts on Testimonies During Disasters" by Daniel Valles.

I most recently have become filled with a greater urgency as I see our nation and world accelerate into blatant, public sin and abomination.  It is my personal belief that time is too short for Christians and freedom in America.  If you and your church is not prepared spiritually, mentally, and physically for the days of Noah that are dawning upon us, then you have very little time to get ready.  I do not say this to frighten you or to spread hype.  It is with great reservation that I boldly state this, not from fear of being quick to jump to conclusions, but that the gravity of what I have said might be taken flippantly.

I would rather be over prepared and hope for the best, than to be woefully unprepared during the worst.

CURRENT EVENT RECAP
------------------------------------------------------

(All of the news referenced herein has been listed in the Current Events for this past week)

The growing rift between US, China, and Taiwan is quickly heating up to a war of words and show.  This week culminated in China plainly telling the US and Taiwan that their 2.5 million man army was quite capable of crushing any attempt at independence by Taiwan.   This warning came shortly after China told Bush that we should not sell any more military technology to Taiwan.  President Chen (Taiwan) recently participated in the war exercises by partaking in a submarine dive to build public support for their purchase of US submarines.  Each side seems to be pushing each other's buttons, provoking responses.  Just today, China staged a military march in Hong Kong, killing two birds with one stone.  First, by making a show of force in HK, which is deeply disturbed by communist inroads to their democracy, and it also showed Taiwan that the Chinese army is still quite virulent, celebrating 77 years since they took control of China in 1949.

Iran has resumed the testing with enriching uranium, as they resume work on their nuclear plant with the aid of Russia.  Iran also announced today that they are building a stealth missile, with key components already on select display.  Combine this news with the nuclear plant, and we can expect increased sanction/first-strike rhetoric regarding Iran.

After the UN ruling regarding Sudan, international intervention is undoubtedly weeks away.  It will mostly be in the area of peacekeepers and aid workers, but all under the UN banner.  International 'meddling' with sovereign nations is rapidly becoming the norm.  Just this week forty British parliamentarians have asked Kofi Annan to get the UN's International Court of Justice on the legality of the Iraq war.  It will be interesting to see where that develops.  If you think that it might not go far, remember that the World Court and the UN discussed Israel's barrier because the Palestinians proposed such an investigation.  Look for more 'meddling' in the days ahead.

In morality news, the world's largest association of psychologists has now endorsed same-sex "marriage and homosexual adoption.  This is a large blow, partly because most people think homosexuality alone is normal and acceptable because they were taught it was just a psychological and genetic issue in the first place.  Now, undoubtedly, these endorsements and thoughts will find their way into education and textbooks.  It will not be a far stretch for them to apply this also to pedophilia and polygamy.  Also, this week, commentary on the New York Times stated that "literally three-quarters of the people deciding what's on the front page [of NYT] are not-so-closeted homosexuals."  When you step back and look at the broad picture, and realize that only a handful of corporations (Viacom, AOL Time Warner, News Corporation, Vivendi Universal, The Walt Disney Co., Bertelsmann AG)  control the vast majority of the US media, it is not to hard to conclude that slanted agendas can easily exist, and that media whitewashes/cover-ups are not that hard.

More and more signs up the last days are appearing as more and more volcanoes and earthquakes happen in greater frequency and intensity.  Just this week we saw unusual volcanic activity in Alaska, Jakarta, Kilauea, Flores, and the Philippines.  The Pacific "ring-of-fire" is getting fairly active.  The signs are going on, the news just does not highlight most of them.  Satan knows that the average Christian knows certain criteria are signs of the last days.  He will do want he can to convince lukewarm Christians that they are at the start, and not near the end, of the last days.  Christ told us to watch and look for the signs.  It may not always be completely obvious or trumpeted from every rooftops, but they are here.  Pastor David Meyer's August 2004 newsletter does an excellent look at these increasing signs (www.lasttrumpetministries.org).
