RECAP NEWSLETTER - 4/10/4 Issue 2
THIS WEEK'S VERSE I love the verse in 7:12 that says, "For wisdom is a defence, and money is a defence: but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it." Our day is a time that is starving for truth (II TIm. 4:3) As Christians, we have the duty of making sure that the light is being presented unaltered. People look to facts, knowledge, proverbs, doctrine, etc. in their daily lives in making decisions. Titus 1:9 reminds us, "Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers." Some people, and even Christian 'leaders' tell people that doctrines are not that important, and that it does not matter what 'version' we use. God tells us to hold fast and to stand fast (2 Thessalonians 2:15) by what He has given us. Granted, holding to what God says do not win a lot of popularity contests, but He commands it. Like the verses said, 1 Corinthians 16:13 says, "Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong." Eccl. 12:13 "Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man." We have our orders, and they stand - we must stay the course for our King.
WORKS IN PROGRESS
CURRENT EVENT RECAP Of course, this creates the perfect opportunity for the UN and NATO to get involved. After all, an international hostage situation will not be the sticky situation one country will be able to handle. Other countries are going to start demanding that the UN step in and take control of the troops there, organize everything, and tell the US to stop meddling unilaterally. Already, a poll this week revealed the growing resentment of Europeans to America as being the world's greatest threat. So far, everything we have touched in this administration has failed. Afghanistan is fraying at the edges, and the war in Iraq has turned into a regional war. Pakistan and Iran are both chafing at UN inspectors, allegations, and the resulting chaos in Iraq. Israel is getting closer to heightened tensions as Sharon gets ready for the Gaza pullout. OPEC and the oil situation will certainly affect the economic climate here in America. Already we are seeing investors being more attracted to gold as a stable asset instead of the dollar, especially in light of the increased European terror threats, and now with the Iraq uprising.
Another interesting note is the use of the word 'militia' in the news
regarding the Iraq uprisers. While the term may be technically
correct (as they are fighting off occupiers and invaders of their
country), it is concerning because they had (until recently) been called
other terms closer to derision - i.e. rebel factions, etc. This may
be a word association trick to get people to assume wrong things about
legitimate militia and minute men, especially in our country America.
